SHEDSOMELIGHT
Christ Our Savior Catholic School
We journey through Lent together. We ask God to help us keep our Lenten promises through the next few weeks. Let the love of our family remind us that God’s help is always with us.
The students and staff attend a Lenten Prayer Service every week to remind them of the need for reconciliation. Our prayer has centered on the themes of “Loving One Another,” “Healing Our Hearts,” “Sharing Our Light,” and this week “Sharing Living Water.” At each prayer service, every classroom receives parts/patterns of that week’s theme to be placed on their Lenten bulletin board to be completed in the six weeks of Lent.
A very important part of our academic journey will take place the week of March 3-Terra Nova Standardized Testing. Grades 1-7 will participate in the testing. We encourage all families to make sure that students get their required hours of sleep and eat a good breakfast before coming to school. Students will be working very hard to complete the testing during the week and need lots of rest and energy.
Congratulations to several of our students who have won special recognitions over the past few weeks:
Jenna Santacaterina-Grade 8 for her award from the VFW for her essay in the Patriot’s Pen Youth Competition. The theme was, “Why I Am an American Patriot.” At a special luncheon, Jenna received a Certificate of Merit and a monetary gift. Her essay will now be submitted for state competition.
Jorian Robinson-Grade 8, Douglas Roach-Grade7, and Julie Whitehair-Grade 6 who competed in The Times Spelling Bee on Saturday, February 23.
Petra Ibarra, Gabriella Pierre-Louis, and Magdalena Ahearn who were the December-January P.O.P. (Positive Opportunities Program) winners in the school.
Please keep in your prayers our second graders who are parishioners of St. Andrew Parish as they make their First Reconciliation on March 5.
God’s Blessings,
Ms. Cindy Rogers
Mr. Matthew Lungaro
