SHEDSOMELIGHT
Christ Our Savior Catholic School
Many of the students are writing poems and essays about famous black Americans as February is Black History Month. Older students are researching the lives of influential black men and women who have changed the course of history with their positive actions. It is through these contributions to society that we find that men and women can rise above racism and poverty to achieve great things.
Every excellent school understands that it is part of a larger community of citizens. Therefore, in light of current events, as recommended by our newly formed Board of Limited Jurisdiction, we will be sponsoring an Elected Official’s Day. We will be having Mayor Don DeGraff of South Holland, Mayor Zenovia Evans of Riverdale, Mayor Michelle Qualkinbush of Calumet City, Illinois Representative William Davis, and Thornton Township Supervisor Frank Zuccarelli visit the campuses later this month. It is a chance for elected officials to connect with young people within their community who may be unfamiliar with them and talk about issues that affect them or their parents. They will come and visit with the children in their classrooms and see their excellent school work and projects on display. In essence, it is a chance for us to emphasize our strengths as a school and for them to make a positive impression on the very future of our community…our children. This day was originally scheduled for Friday, February 1, but because school was closed due to inclement weather, it was postponed.
We recently kicked off our final fundraiser of the year which includes many products including World’s Finest Chocolate. If you are interested in purchasing some products, please call (708) 862-4143 for the east campus office or (708) 333-8173 for the west campus school office for more information.
With God’s Blessings,
Mr. Matthew Lungaro
Ms. Cindy Rogers
